Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud will be open to visitors for a full-day tour through Discover Newmarket on Thursday, May 16, the tourism organisation announced on Thursday. Guests will be treated to a stallion parade of Lanwades Stud's trio of stallions--Bobby's Kitten, Sea The Moon (Ger) and Study Of Man (Ire). Best-selling author Felix Francis, the son of the late National Hunt jockey and celebrated crime writer Dick Francis, will host a one-off tour the 'No Reserve Guided Tour with Felix Francis' in Newmarket on Oct. 5, the first session of the three-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. The tour marks the launch of Francis's latest thriller, No Reserve, which is set in the Suffolk town. Francis will take visitors to several places described in the book, including the historic Newmarket Gallops, and the Tattersalls sales ring at Park Paddocks....

Newmarket yard tours of William Haggas, John and Thady Gosden and Sir Mark Prescott, who all train for King Charles, and Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be offered by Discover Newmarket in the coming months. Hula Hooping Girl, by the celebrated artist Banksy, will be part of a special art exhibit at the National Horse Racing Museum this summer-- Urban Frame: Mutiny in Colour. Royal trainers William Haggas, Michael Bell and John and Thady Gosden will open the doors of their stables for a series of Royal Yard Tours this summer to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Discover Newmarket will host the tours, which offer visitors a behind-the-scenes look at Somerville Lodge, Fitzroy House, and Clarehaven, where Her Majesty has horses in training. Tours of The National Stud will begin again from Feb. 18 through Discover Newmarket. Visitors will be able to view new stallion Lope Y Fernandez (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), as well as Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Aclaim (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}). The 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour will allow visitors to hear about the history of the stud and the work that goes into producing future champions. Three returning tours were announced by Discover Newmarket on Wednesday. The "Behind the Scenes Racecourse Tour" is one hour and includes visiting the Commentary Box and Royal Box at Newmarket Racecourses. This tour is £15 per person. A full day, the "Newmarket Race Day Tour" features a day out at the races, including admission to the Premier Enclosure and an hour-long tour that visits the Commentary Box and Royal Box. Discover Newmarket will later this year launch two new tours. "On The Trail of Dick Francis" will take in many of the spots in the town that the late former champion steeplechase jockey used as plots in his acclaimed novels. "Newmarket's Racing Royalty" reveals the town's royal heritage. Visitors on the tour will hear stories about the royals who have frequented Newmarket down the centuries and call by places with royal connections.
