A dedicated Broodmare, Fillies For Stud & Weanling Online Auction was announced by Bloodstock South Africa (BSA) on Tuesday. The sale will be held from May 7-8, and will carry no entry fee and no commission will be charged. The closing date for entries will be Apr. 23. Already scheduled is the BSA May Online Auction, which will consist of yearlings and horses-in-training. In 2024, the remaining BSA sales are as follows: the July 4 KZN Yearling Sale in Durban, and the National 2-Year-Old Sale in Johannesburg on Aug. 22-23....

A 152-strong catalogue for the Bloodstock South Africa November 2-Year-Old Sale has been released by the sales company on Thursday. Slated for the TBA Complex in Germiston, South Africa, the sale will begin at 11 a.m. local time on Nov. 26. One of the highlights is a Duke Of Marmalade (Ire) half-brother to Equus Champion Nebraas (SAf) (Vercingetorix {SAf}). During the first session of the BSA August Two-Year-Old Sale, a colt by Rafeef (SAf) topped proceedings at R1 million to Jonathan Snaith. Part of the Wilgerbosdrift draft, the bay has already been named Aristotle (SAf) and is out of the Ford Wood mare Athina (SAf). The dam won the G1 SA Fillies Classic and is a relative to Grade 1 winner Heir Apparent (SAf) (Fort Wood). Of the 137 lots offered, 127 sold (93%) for a gross of R25,905,000. The average was R203,976 and the median was R150,000.

The catalogue for the Sean Tarry Fast Track Sale, featuring 60 lots, is now online. Held at the Bull Ring in the Randjesfontein Training Centre on Friday, Sept. 23, the sale features black-type fillies, several Gold Rush candidates, BSA added stakes candidates and some unraced horses. The Bloodstock South Africa August 2-Year-Old Sale saw increases in both average and median during a positive two days of selling at the TBA Sales Complex in Johannesburg on Friday and Saturday. Of the 316 2-year-olds catalogued, 280 sold from 299 offered (93.6%) and they grossed R39,540,000 ($2,603,631/£1,898,177/€2,219,487). The average improved 15.3% to R141,750 ($9,328/£6,801/€7,952) and the median also rose to R90,000 ($5,922/£4,318/€5,049) (+28.5%).
