On the first day of scheduled racing at Aqueduct after the jockeys walked out Sunday after the first race, things returned to normal Thursday. Jockeys' Guild's Meyocks Expresses Optimism About Racing Resuming Thursday at Aqueduct

Jockeys' Guild President & CEO Terry Meyocks issued a statement Monday saying that NYRA and the Guild had made progress regarding the dispute that led to the jockeys walking out after the first race Sunday at Aqueduct. The New York jockey colony refused to ride after Sunday's first race at Aqueduct because of a number of recent problems they have said they were having with NYRA management. Hector Soler, Head Starter at NYRA, Terminated

NYRA's head starter Hector Soler's employment has been terminated as of Sunday, Mar. 2, according to NYRA. Consistent with NYRA policies, Soler has been precluded from accessing NYRA properties for a period of 90 days. According to the organization, Jeff LaRue will assume the head starter duties on an interim basis. LaRue is the head starter at Finger Lakes and has been a substitute at NYRA since November.
