Francis Graffard trainee Vadinska (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) delivered an impressive debut performance in Thursday's Prix Fourire at Saint-Cloud and earned a TDN Rising Star badge after registering a 10-length success in the one-mile debutantes' heat.
The January-foaled bay, who lined up as the 4-5 favourite here, broke from the outside stall and tracked the leading duo from a position three lengths off the tempo through the initial fractions. Inching closer rounding the home turn, she cruised to the front on the bridle in early straight and lengthened clear in style inside the final quarter-mile to easily outclass Ampola (Fr) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) by open water.
“We enjoyed a straightforward trip, despite the [outside] draw, and she stretched out well at the end, doing it with great ease,” said pilot Mickael Barzalona after partnering Vadinska to become her sire's sixth Rising Star. Kodiac's roll of honour includes last year's G1 Phoenix Stakes heroine Babouche (GB) and 2023's G1 2000 Guineas and G1 Irish 2000 Guineas placegetter Hi Royal (Ire).
Vadinska is the first of two foals out of a multiple stakes-placed half-sister to G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G1 Coral Eclipse hero Vadeni (Fr) (Churchill {Ire}) and the stakes-placed Vadiyann (Fr) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}). Her dam Vadsena is a granddaughter of G1 Prix Saint-Alary heroine Vadawina (Ire) (Unfuwain), who produced five stakes performers headed by Group 3-winning G1 Racing Post Trophy third The Pentagon (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Prix du Conseil de Paris victor Vadamar (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}). Vadawina is kin to Saint-Alary victrix Vazira (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and dual Group 3-winning distaffer Vadapolina (Fr) (Trempolino). She hails from the family of elite-level winners Valixir (Ire) (Trempolino) and Val Royal (Fr) (Royal Academy). The January-foaled homebred bay is a half-sister to the unraced 2-year-old filly Vadirouma (Fr) (Lope De Vega {Ire}).
