The 56th 'TDN Rising Star', presented by Hagyard, for the hegemonic heavyweight stallion Into Mischief went to first-time starter Sneaky Good, who was boldfaced heading for home as she took the seventh race at Keeneland on Sunday.
A $450,000 grad who went through the nearby sales pavilion ring, the filly was backed at the windows as the 2-1 choice with expert jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. signed on to ride here. The 2-year-old came through the middle of the pack between runners and established a tenuous lead over the 'Insighted' 5-2 second choice Betty's Pearl (Munnings) up the backstretch.
Around the far turn, Sneaky Good looked as though she was in for a fight as the two began to slug it out all the way to the eighth pole. The daughter of Into Mischief was up to the task at hand though, and she dug down deep to find more. Sneaky Good separated herself from her rival and went on to graduate by 4 3/4 lengths.
Her second foal, the winner's dam was a $430,000 purchase for Andrew N. Warren at the 2021 Keeneland November sale while an eventual filly named Timekeeper (Not This Time) was in utero. Gale produced a colt by Curlin last year, a filly by City of Light this year and she visited Life Is Good for next. Sneaky Good's second dam is SW Windy Forecast (Stormy Atlantic), who is a half-sister to SW Tres Coronas (Chief's Crown).
