Shadwell Stables' ASHIHAM (Tapit), an $800,000 Keeneland September yearling, debuts for trainer Todd Pletcher after finishing an even fourth in his career bow for Kiaran McLaughlin going six furlongs at the Hallandale oval Feb. 29. The chestnut is out of Wine Princess (Ghostzapper), a graded stakes winning daughter of Hall of Famer Azeri (Jade Hunter). At Pletcher's Palm Beach Downs training base, the May foal worked five furlongs in 1:00 3/5 Apr. 18. Jockey Luis Saez, whose book is now managed by the colt's former trainer and recently retired McLaughlin, gets the mount for the first time. Fern Circle Stables & Three Chimneys Farm LLC's CHASING ANNA (Fast Anna) gets started for trainer Ken McPeek. A $400,000 KEESEP yearling purchase in 2018, he was the top priced offspring that season by the stakes winning and Grade I-placed son of champion Dreaming of Anna. In his latest work at Gulfstream, he negotiated four furlongs in :47.08 (3/82). Chad Brown also sends out firster BASQUIAT (American Pharoah). Out of the stakes-placed turf mare Divalarious (Distorted Humor), the Peter Brant hombred will be partnered by Irad Ortiz Jr. TJCIS PPs
