Trainer Chad Brown saddles a pair of 5-year-old mares making their first starts for him and their owners in Saturday's GI Madison S. at Keeneland. MGSW millionaire Paulassilverlining (Ghostzapper) was last seen annexing Aqueduct's Garland of Roses S. for owner/breeder Vince Scuderi and conditioner Michelle Nevin Dec. 10. She resurfaces in the Juddmonte pink and green, but will still be piloted by Jose Ortiz, who has ridden her for more of her 18 career starts than anybody else. The bay was third in the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint two back, and was a finalist for 2016 champion female sprinter. Paid Up Subscriber (Candy Ride {Arg}), meanwhile, was a $1.1-million Fasig-Tipton November purchase last year on behalf of Peter Brant and Joseph Allen, LLC. Formerly trained by Al Stall, Jr. on behalf of Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence–major clients of Brown's–the chestnut annexed last June's GII Fleur de Lis H. going nine panels at Churchill and a distant second to I'm a Chatterbox (Munnings) at the same distance in this venue's GI Juddmonte Spinster S. Oct. 9. Brown won the fall meet equivalent of this race–the GII Thoroughbred Club of America S.–with Irish Jasper (First Defence) in October. 'TDN Rising Star' Constellation (Bellamy Road) was transferred from Steve Asmussen to Jerry Hollendorfer ahead of a tune-up victory in the Phoenix S. at Turf Paradise Nov. 12. She belied 12-1 odds when annexing Santa Anita's GI La Brea S. Dec. 26, but was upended at odds-on when settling for second in the GIII Las Flores S. at Santa Anita Mar. 5. High Ridge Road (Quality Road) was beaten a nose in Aqueduct's GIII Go For Wand H. Dec. 3, but bounced back with a victory over Paulassilverlining's Grade I-winning former stablemate By the Moon (Indian Charlie) in Laurel's Thirty Eight Go Go S. on New Year's Day. She defeated that foe–and next-out Correction S. winner Clothes Fall Off (Daaher)–in the GII Barbara Fritchie S. back in Maryland Feb. 18. Trainer Linda Rice took the Madison two years ago with Princess Violet (Officer).
