Zoffany Filly Tops Italian Sale

Zoffany | Coolmore

A filly by Zoffany (Ire) who is a half-sister to a trio of stakes horses proved the most sought-after lot at the SGA's Italian yearling sale on Friday, selling for €85,000 to Incolinx. Offered by La Nuova Sbarra, lot 34 is the fifth foal out of the stakes-placed Giant Dream (GB) (Giant's Causeway), who has produced the Grade 1 winner Giant Hawk (Hawk Wing) over jumps in addition to listed-placed winners on the flat Art of Dream (Ire) (Dutch Art {GB}) and Dream Can True (Ire) (Marju {Ire}).

The highest-priced colt of the session came through the ring just two lots later when lot 36, a son of Footstepsinthesand (GB), realized €80,000 from Edmondo Botti. Also offered by La Nuova Sbarra, he is out of the G3 Premio Regina Elena 1000 Guineas third Icebreaking (Ire) (Elusive City).

Alduino Botti struck at €70,000 for a filly by War Command out of the stakes winning Samya (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) (lot 4), while Incolinx picked up a daughter of New Approach (Ire) (lot 11) for the same price. The latter is a half-sister to the G3 Premio Regina Elena 1000 Guineas winner Vague Nouvelle (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}). New Approach featured again near the top of the leaderboard with a €60,000 colt.

In all, 64 yearlings were sold at a buyback rate of 19.4%. The average was €19,617, and the median €12,000.
