A 2-year-old colt by freshman sire Yaupon attracted the top bid of $250,000 during the Fasig-Tipton February Digital Sale which concluded Tuesday evening. A total of 157 horses sold during the online auction for a gross of $4,965,400, an average of $31,626 and a clearance rate of nearly 80%.

Fasig-Tipton offered a selection of 2-year-olds in training for the first time on its digital platform during the February sale and eight of the 13 offered juveniles sold for $585,000 and an average of $73,000.

Two of the sale's top six lots were 2-year-olds, led by a colt by Yaupon (hip 42) who was purchased for $250,000 by Shane Yeager from the De Meric Sales consignment. The New York-bred colt is out of multiple stakes winner Frosty Magarita (Frost Giant) and was bred by Gabrielle Farm and Saratoga Glen Farm.

The sale topper sold off a traditional virtual inspection and video of an untimed gallop at De Meric Farm in Ocala.

“This was a fantastic sale from beginning to end,” said Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales Leif Aaron. “It was a great market for buyers and sellers. More than 1,000 registered bidders and horses that were very well represented. The 2-year-olds in training were very encouraging, with eight of 13 sold, including our sale topper. We learned a lot about what worked and how to move forward with that segment of the market.”

Top hips sold during the digital auction included:

Ocean Mermaid (GB) (Kingman {GB}) (hip 10), a 4-year-old racing or broodmare propsect purchased for $210,000 by RWB from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. The bay filly produced a timely update when she won her 2025 debut at Tampa Bay Downs Feb. 21;
