A Wootton Bassett half-sister to multiple Group 1 winners Gstaad and Vandeek will be among the headline lots at this year's Tattersalls December Foal Sale, which takes place from Tuesday, November 24 to Saturday, November 28.
Bred and consigned by Kelly Thomas's Maywood Stud, the Wootton Bassett filly received a Classic update in May when Gstaad won the Irish 2,000 Guineas. A 450,000gns purchase at the December Foal Sale, the son of Starspangledbanner also won the Coventry Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf as a two-year-old, while he was last seen filling the runner-up spot behind Bow Echo for the third time this season in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
Vandeek, meanwhile, was unbeaten in four starts as a juvenile, culminating with back-to-back Group 1 wins in the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes. The son of Havana Grey also finished third in the July Cup the following year, before being retired to embark on a stallion career at Cheveley Park Stud.
The Maywood Stud draft at the December Foal Sale will also include a Havana Grey colt out of Lady Kheleyf (Kheleyf), a half-sister to Gstaad and Vandeek, making the colt a three-parts brother to the latter.
In the meantime, Lady Kheleyf's yearling colt by Starspangledbanner, a three-parts brother to Gstaad, will go through the ring as lot 74 at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
