HIGH REGARD (f, 2, Will Take Charge–Highest Class {MGSP, $120,996}, by Mineshaft) was given a patient ride by apprentice Edgar Morales and became the fifth winner for her freshman sire (by Unbridled's Song) with a determined victory Friday afternoon at Churchill Downs. Sent off the 4-1 second choice on the heels of a solid debut fourth to next-out Arlington-Washington Lassie S. victrix Into Trouble (Into Mischief) going seven panels at Ellis Park Aug. 11, the $160,000 Keeneland September graduate was off fairly and improved her position out of the chute to race in fifth and in the clear down the backstretch as favored Mo Wheels Up (Uncle Mo). Given her cue entering the turn, she covered a bit of ground, but was catching every stride and was three wide into the lane. Mo Wheels Up led into the final eighth of a mile, but High Regard had all the answers, collaring that one with 100 yards remaining before edging home a length to the good. A $115,000 KEENOV weanling and $160,000 KEESEP yearling, High Regard is a half-sister to Chocopologie (Candy Ride {Arg}), SW & GSP, $270,358, and is out of a half-sister to MGSW & GISP turf miler Gulch Approval (Gulch). MGSW & GISP Rusty Slipper (Lemon Drop Kid) and SW & MGSP Approval Rating (Lemon Drop Kid). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $35,700. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
