KINGLY (c, 2, Tapit&log=">Tapit–Justwhistledixie {MGSW & GISP, $449,427}, by Dixie Union)kept the Bob Baffert train rolling on Saturday with yet another first-out win. Let go at 4-1 as all the money came for two-time runner-up Stretford End (Will Take Charge), the bay set the pace through splits of :22.52 and :45.65. First shaking off the challenge of My Mandate (Strong Mandate), he held sway from a somewhat green Stretford End late to prevail by a 3/4 of a length. Stretford End has now finished second to Baffert firsters in each of his outings. The winner is a full-brother to KEESEP '14 co-topper Mohaymen, MGSW, $998,417; and a half to Baffert-trained GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner New Year's Day (Street Cry {Ire}), GISW, $1,154,000. His dam, an accomplished runner in her own right who would've offered the closest thing to a challenge to the great Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) in the 2009 GI Kentucky Oaks if not being forced to scratch with a foot issue, produced another Tapit colt last year who was subsequently bought back for $775,000 this September. Justwhistledixie produced a Pioneerof the Nile colt this term before being bred back to Arrogate. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,800.
