Walk In The Park Gelding Tops Goffs

Choungaya | Goffs

Choungaya (Fr) (Walk In The Park {Ire}), became the highest-priced lot thus far at the Goffs Land Rover Sale when selling to Harold Kirk and trainer Willie Mullins for €165,000 on Wednesday. Wednesday's session marked the second of three days of trade. A total of 158 were sold on the day from 182 offered, at a buyback rate of 13.2%. The average was up slightly on the opening day figure, finishing at €34,674, while the median dipped slightly from opening day at €27,500. The aggregate for the day was €5,478,500.

Choungaya (lot 291) is an unbroken 3-year-old gelding who counts Valdance (Fr), a stakes winner and the winner of 13 races, as his second dam.

Two more unbroken 3-year-old geldings shared the second-top price of €110,000 and were the only other six-figure transactions of the session: an unnamed son of Shantou (lot 232) who was picked up by Ian Ferguson for €110,000 and is a full-brother to graded winners Sword Of Destiny (Ire) and Wounded Warrior (Ire); and an unnamed son of Flemensfirth (lot 282) bought by Alan and Ann Potts.
