Tullyhill Takes Pride Of Place As Tattersalls Online April Sale Ends

Tullyhill | Tattersalls Online

Thomas Foley picked up Tullyhill for 45,000gns to top the Tattersalls Online April Sale on Thursday.

Sold as lot 35 from Willie Mullins's Closutton Stables, the son of Martaline finished second in the G1 Punchestown Champion INH Flat Race and was later a listed hurdle winner for former owner Cheveley Park Stud.

“There are no big plans yet but there are opportunities in America for him this summer at Saratoga and Belmont where there is a bit less emphasis on jumping, or he could have a campaign on better ground in Ireland,” said Foley. “He will go down to Ray Hurley in Clonakilty who will have him for a month and tell us where to go.”

L'Amalric (Muhtathir) (lot 73) was second on the buyers' sheet when picked up by Olly Murphy Racing for 31,000gns. Consigned by Murphy, the placed runner will remain in his yard for new connections.

Former Wathnan Racing runners Fortification (Mehmas) (lot 3) and Cerelia (Wootton Bassett) (lot 45) sold for 26,000gns and 19,500gns, respectively. Brian Ellison snapped up the former from Archie Watson, while the latter went to Amen Corner from the yard of William Haggas.

Overall, 37 lots sold (62%) from 60 offered for a turnover of 300,300gns. The average was 8,133gns and the median was 5,500gns.
