Troubleshooting Crowned Grand Marshal of Not This Time Parade in Keeneland's Bryan Station

There were seven Not This Time runners in the GIII Bryan Station Stakes, and Troubleshooting led all others home to not only claim the contest but also hand their sire the top four spots once the minors were decided.

Last seen winning the GI Franklin Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs, the Greg Foley-trainee has been off the board only once in 2025 and counted three victories prior to this effort. Those came in his graduation from the maiden ranks at this venue last spring, in the July 4 Dade Park Dash Stakes at Ellis Park, and the aforementioned elite-level win last out Sept. 6. He came a nose short Aug. 4 against allowance company at Ellis Park else Troubleshooting would've entered this contest riding a three-race winstreak.

Given 7-2 odds here, he tracked Golden Afternoon (Goldencents) as that one played pacesetter through an opening quarter in :23.83 and a half in:47.97. Still moving comfortably behind six panels in 1:12.34, Troubleshooting was the looming danger turning for home and he inhaled that leader not long after they entered the lane. Kicking away with it as Tenacious Leader (Not This Time) tried to close the gap, he had just enough left to hold that one at bay by a neck. Giocoso (Not This Time) was best of the rest for third in a blanket finish where he beat out fellow Not This Time-sired Dream On for the last trifecta spot.

The stallion's other runners Mesero, Final Gambit, and Antisocial finished seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.

“It really was (pretty straightforward),” said winning rider Tyler Gaffalione. “He's got a ton of natural ability. He shows good pace and puts himself in a great spot. [Trainer] Greg [Foley] has done a great job with him. He brought him over here ready to run.”

“[Troubleshooting has] been working great and he really showed it all today. To be honest, I got to the lead a little easier than I was expecting. I asked him to run and he really kicked on about the eighth pole. He started looking around a little bit, so I gave him a couple of reminders and he really finished his job well.”

“Let's put it this way: I'm glad the Breeders' Cup is here next year,” said Foley. “We just were talking about it before today, even just that he would take us, and if he's doing well, maybe we could have a shot at it next year. I don't know why we don't. He just gets better all the time. He's a big, gorgeous horse.”

Pedigree Note:

Troubleshooting is a half-brother to MSP Big Trouble (Kantharos) and has a placed juvenile half-brother named Trouble Calling (Dialed In). Dam Into Trouble (Into Mischief) has a yearling filly by Nashville and a 2025 colt by the same sire. She went to Kantharos for 2025. The mare is herself out of SW & MGSP Smooth Performer (Benchmark), making her a half-sister to the dam of GISP Ah Jeez (Mendelssohn). Another of her sisters produced GSP Violent Runner (Violence). This is the extended female family of Singaporean champion Maximus Sin (Lemon Drop Kid).
