The 13th Bing Crosby Season at Del Mar will be held from Friday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 29 and will feature a $2.1-million stakes schedule, highlighted by the GI Hollywood Derby and the GI Matriarch Stakes on closing weekend of the meet.
Live racing is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the exception of Thanksgiving Day Nov. 26, which will kick off at 11 a.m. PT.
Of the 15 total added-money events, fully nine will take place on Del Mar's Jimmy Durante Turf Course. Four of those contests on the grass are graded, including the GII Hollywood Turf Cup on Nov. 27, the GII Seabiscuit Handicap and GIII Jimmy Durante Stakes on Nov. 28 and the GIII Cecil B. DeMille Stakes on closing day.
“We've got one of the best turf courses in the country,” said Del Mar's senior vice president for racing and racing secretary David Jerkens, “and we put a real emphasis on it for our fall meet. Our lineup is the best in America during that period.”
Three graded stakes are set to be run on the dirt: the GIII Bob Hope Stakes on Nov. 15, the GIII Native Diver Stakes on Nov. 21 and the GIII Bayakoa Stakes on Nov. 29.
Cal-breds have stakes opportunities in the Nov. 7 The Chosen Vron Stakes and the Betty Grable Stakes on Nov. 8.
First post will be 12:30 p.m. PT. Friday cards will consist of eight races, while nine races will take place on weekends.
