Restless Rider (Distorted Humor) picked herself up off the canvas at the three-eighths pole and stormed away from her rivals to win the Listed Debutante S. and become a ‘TDN Rising Star’ in the process.

Made the 11-10 favorite on the strength of a 2 3/4-length debut success in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden June 8, the $150,000 Keeneland September yearling was beaten for speed early, but found her feet and gained ground to be on the heels of the longshot pacesetter Payntermaniac (Paynter) as they raced into the turn. Stopped cold and forced to check very hard while tossing her head about when the latter went wrong, Restless Rider recovered to go on the attack four away from the fence on the swing for home. She swiftly descended on the front rank to lead with better than an eighth of a mile to come and won with consummate ease as meet-leading rider Brian Hernandez Jr. eased her home through the final 100 yards. Shanghai Rain (Shanghai Bobby) made a menacing bid at the top of the lane, but had to settle for second.

Restless Rider is the 146th black-type winner for 25-year-old Distorted Humor and is the 149th stakes winner out of a mare by Unbridled’s Song-also a foal of 1993. Silky Serenade, a half-sister to MGSW juvenile Private Vow (Broken Vow), is the dam of a yearling colt by Into Mischief and produced a colt by Kantharos this past Mar. 24 after being purchased by Machmer Hall for $75,000 with that foal in utero at KEENOV last fall. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton. Click for the Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree.
