Owned by Coach Bill Parcells's August Dawn Farm, THREE TECHNIQUE (Mr Speaker) came flying late to earn 'TDN Rising Star' status at Saratoga Saturday afternoon. Hammered down to even-money to get off the mark in this third try, the dark bay raced in second last as $750,000 FTSAUG buy Wayne O (Into Mischief) clicked off opening splits of :22.98 and :46.03. Three wide at the top of the lane and still sitting second last, Three Technique unleashed a powerful late turn of foot, swallowing up the field in a matter of strides and rolling clear to graduate by 5 1/2 lengths, becoming the fourth winner for his freshman sire (by Pulpit). The $180,000 FTKJUL purchase was also the most expensive yearling by Mr Speaker sold last term.

Completing the exacta in his Belmont unveiling June 14, Three Technique filled the place spot again behind GI Hopeful S.-bound Basin (Liam's Map) next out in a six-panel event at the Spa July 21. The winner is a half to Stan the Man (Broken Vow), GSP, $331,749. His GSP dam Nite in Rome produced a Data Link filly in 2018 and a full-brother to Three Technique this year. She was bred back to Bolt d'Oro.
