Shoot It True (Munnings–To the Moon Alice, by Malibu Moon) was named a 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard,' when she won by 7 1/2 lengths at Keeneland in April of her juvenile year.
Last summer at the Spa, the filly won an optional claimer against New York-breds in mid-July, then took on open company and dispensed with that bunch in late August. Her more recent work has included a runner-up finish in the GII Unbridled Sidney Stakes at Churchill Downs May 1 and she was third in the GII Intercontinental Stakes at Saratoga June 4.
The 3-5 choice here took up a position in fourth up the backstretch. Waiting for her cue around the far turn, the filly entered the lane ready to flash a strong turn of foot. Shoot It True hummed along with jockey Jose Ortiz on her back and won the day by three lengths over Highway Harmony (Mo Town).
The winner's dam is responsible for unraced 3-year-old colt Aggression (Street Sense) and a yearling colt by Gunite. To the Moon Alice produced a filly by National Treasure last season and was sent to Munnings for next term.
Shoot It True's second dam is GSW Love Match (Partner's Hero) and her extended female family includes GSW Unchained Melody (Smart Strike).
