Bret Jones and his family have fond memories of breeding and racing Indian Pride (Proud Citizen), who carried the house colors for the late Governor Brereton C. Jones.
Under trainer Chad Brown at the Spa in 2019, Indian Pride debuted with an eight-length romp.
On Saturday over the same surface her filly Libby Lloyd (Into Mischief–Indian Pride, by Proud Citizen)–named after Bret Jones's mother–replicated the feat and like her mare earned a 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard,' for the splendid effort.
An 'Insight' runner who was sent off as the 6-5 choice here, Libby Lloyd singed out of the blocks with flames emanating from her hooves. er speed as she set the fractions up the backstretch.
The 2-year-old Brown trainee meant business around the far turn and she entered the lane with more to give.
Extending her lead to 10, which bested what her mare did in 2019, Libby Lloyd won for fun.

The other 'Insighted' runners finished as follows: Groves (Flightline) was the runner-up; Free Verse (Justify) was third; Tumoohaat (Into Mischief) was fifth; and the scratches were V Formation (Drain the Clock) and Oneinamilliongirl (Audible).
“That was a real goosebumper for us.” Airdrie Stud's Bret Jones told the TDN. “Pretty remarkable how similar it was to her dam, Indian Pride's debut. I immediately texted Chad that it brought back a lot of memories. Indian Pride had come along when my Dad's health was failing and I showed him her first race over and over again, and it always pumped him up.
“We had some great days with Indian Pride and I always told Chad we'd send him one of her daughters if they were acting like they could be okay,” said Jones. “This filly always has been pretty special, so we made that commitment to him a while ago. Just as you'd expect, he and his team have done an absolutely brilliant job preparing her to do what she just did today.”
Indian Pride's first foal is GI Arkansas Derby runner-up Publisher (American Pharoah), SW & GISP, $806,851 and her last is a filly by Gun Runner who arrived in 2025.
The winner's mare is herself a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Biofuel (Stormin Fever), who happens to be the second dam of Road Show (Roadster), the winner of the third race on the Saratoga card.
Indian Pride is also a half to Canadian champion 2-year-old filly Tu Endie Wei (Johar) and the dam MGSW Mrs. Astor (Lookin At Lucky).
Libby Lloyd marks the 62nd 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' for her stellar multiple leading sire, Into Mischief.
