Tattersalls Releases Guineas Catalogue

Guineas Breeze Up graduate Trueshan | Tattersalls

Tattersalls has catalogued 233 2-year-olds and 36 horses in training for its Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale at Park Paddocks on Apr. 29 and 30, with the 2-year-olds set to breeze on Newmarket's Rowley Mile on Apr. 28.

The breeze-up horses will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Guineas graduates like Trueshan (Fr) (Planteur {Ire}), the winner of last year's G2 British Champions Long Distance Cup, and Far Above (Ire) (Farhh {GB}), who took the 2020 G3 Palace House S.

In addition to 43 proven, Group 1 sires, buyers will have a chance to get their hands on the progeny of first-season sires Aclaim (Ire), Almanzor (Fr), Churchill (Ire), Decorated Knight (GB), Ectot (GB), Galileo Gold (Ire), Highland Reel (Ire), National Defense (GB), Postponed (Ire), Profitable (Ire), Ribchester (Ire) and Zelzal (Ire).

Horses in training sure to draw attention include Juddmonte's 3-year-old Alpha King (GB) (Kingman {GB}) (lot 28), rated 82 by Timeform and second on two of his last three starts; group and listed-performing 6-year-old Crossed Baton (GB) (Dansili {GB}) (lot 21); Timeform 100-rated 4-year-old Will To Win (Ger) (Showcasing {GB}) (lot 26); and 3-year-old Nortonthorpe Boy (GB) (Swiss Spirit {GB}) (lot 27), who has won six times since Christmas for trainer Phil McEntee and who is rated 92 by Timeform.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale has a long-established reputation for producing top-class performers at all levels of the market and last year's Ascot Group 2 winner Trueshan, bought for 31,000gns, is another fine advertisement for the sale. This year's Guineas Breeze Up has been very well supported by the leading consignors and features 2-year-olds which will appeal to a cross-section of buyers, alongside a number of high-class proven performers.”
