WHO'S OUT (c, 2, Tale of Ekati–Shine Forth, by Carson City), purchased for $350,000 at the OBS March sale after breezing a furlong in :10, finished a well-beaten fourth behind “TDN Rising Star” Blameitonthelaw (Blame) and the reopposing Semper Fortis (Distorted Humor) and South Detroit (Wilburn) in his 5 1/2 furlong debut here Aug. 2. Sent off as the 7-2 second choice behind Semper Fortis, a half to MGISW Carpe Diem (Giant's Causeway), the bay was hustled to the lead by Hall of Famer Mike Smith and doled out early splits of :22.26 and :45.78 while hard pressed by first time starter Oppidum (Speightstown). Who's Out instantly surger clear in the lane and rolled home under a hand ride to score a decisive 7 1/2-length victory. Urlacher (Discreet Cat) got up for second and Quality Line (Quality Road) was third. Oppidum faded to seventh.The winner is a half to Bourbon Courage (Lion Heart), GSW & MGISP, $1,129,187.
