A colt (lot 251) and a gelding (182), both by Zarak (Fr), make €240,000 and €125,000, respectively, to fill the first two places as the Arqana Summer Sale kicked off in Deauville on Wednesday. Figures On Par At Arqana November Yearlings

Arqana staged the second renewal of its November Yearling Sale on Saturday, with figures in line with its 2020 edition held amid the pre-vaccine pandemic. Last year, 215 yearlings were offered and this year it was 207. More were sold this year, 167 compared to 155, allowing the clearance rate to rise to 80.6% from 72%. The aggregate settled at €1,057,500, while the average was €6,332 (down slightly from €6,981) and the median was the same at €5,000. Arqana Jump Starts The Season With €250,000 Hurdler

Arqana has an advantage over its counterparts in Britain and Ireland in so far as the company is able to stage a live sale in Deauville this week, with some encouraging returns posted from the first of two sessions of the February Sale on Monday.
