EFTBA Annual General Meeting Held In Newmarket Earlier This Month

The annual general meeting of the European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders' Associations (EFTBA) was held at the John Lambton Rooms of the National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket on July 12. The well-attended meeting also welcomed all new EFTBA representatives--Magdalene Donimirska - Wodzicka Poland; Frank Dorff, Germany' Jose Hormaeche Spain; Philip Lybeck Finland; Henrik Villadsen, Denmark; and Pierric Rouxel, France. EU Commission Lifts 30-Day Foal Restrictions

As part of its newly enacted Animal Health Law, the EU Commission will not apply restrictions on traveling foals under 30 days old through the UK and continental Europe. The European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders' Associations worked with the likes of Louis Romanet, Dr. Paul Gadot and Brian Kavanagh to form a task force to lobby for the removal of the restrictions, in which Dr. Des Leadon was also instrumental. Digital Passport Idea Proposed for European Horse Movement

An equine digital passport solution, which would ensure the efficient cross-border movement of sport, racing and breeding horses beginning in 2021, was proposed by the International Horse Sports Confederation Taskforce (IHSC) for Brexit and European Union Animal Health Law on Tuesday.
