Maxfield Filly and Nyquist Colt Surpass $1-Million Mark Late at OBS March

Following the fireworks that ensued with the sale of a record-setting $3-million Gun Runner colt earlier in OBS's Thursday's session, a pair of juveniles surpassed the $1 million in quick succession. Hip 721, a filly by Maxfield brought a final bid of $1.25 million from Marquee Bloodstock, while only a few hips later, a colt by Nyquist drew $1 million from Shannon Potter, bidding on behalf of Epic Horses. HOTY Rachel Alexandra's Brother Yields $1.35M at Keeneland

A full-brother to Horse of the Year and champion sophomore filly Rachel Alexandra (Medalia d'Oro)  realized a $1.35 million final bid from Epic Horses on Day 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington. Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa consigned the Feb. 23 foal. Bred by Dede McGehee, Hip 112 is out of Lotta Kim (Roar), also responsible for GSP Dolphus and Gladys. Rachel Alexandra is also the dam of Grade I winner Rachel Valentina (Bernardini).
