Cape Racing Sales has launched a new Bonus Structure and Pinhooking Programme. Beginning with the 2023 June Winter Sale, bonuses of R100,000 will be paid for the first juvenile win of any race, including open maiden races won by juveniles. The bonuses will be limited to the first 40 juvenile winners. The catalogue for the Sean Tarry Fast Track Sale, featuring 60 lots, is now online. Held at the Bull Ring in the Randjesfontein Training Centre on Friday, Sept. 23, the sale features black-type fillies, several Gold Rush candidates, BSA added stakes candidates and some unraced horses. The Bloodstock South Africa August Two Year Old Sale catalogue is now online. Overall, 275 juveniles comprise the catalogue, with the sale set for the BSA complex in Germiston on Aug. 26-27. The Bloodstock South Africa August 2-Year-Old Sale saw increases in both average and median during a positive two days of selling at the TBA Sales Complex in Johannesburg on Friday and Saturday. Of the 316 2-year-olds catalogued, 280 sold from 299 offered (93.6%) and they grossed R39,540,000 ($2,603,631/£1,898,177/€2,219,487). The average improved 15.3% to R141,750 ($9,328/£6,801/€7,952) and the median also rose to R90,000 ($5,922/£4,318/€5,049) (+28.5%). The two-day Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale drew to a close on Friday with trade at a satisfactory level despite the ongoing pandemic and political anxieties in the country.
