Veteran Journalist, Historian Edward Bowen Dies At 82

Long-time racing journalist and historian Edward Bowen passed away Monday, Jan. 20 at his home in Versailles, Kentucky at the age of 82, according to the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation. Bowen was the Blood-Horse Editor-In-Chief from 1987-1992. He was hired at Grayson in 1994, and spent 24 years as the president of the foundation, during a career in racing and journalism which spanned over 60 years. The finalists and runners-up for the 2023 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards (TIEA), set for Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Keeneland, were named in a release by Godolphin late Thursday. Sara Gordon, TDN's Social Media Manager, is a finalist for the Newcomer Award. Frank Angst Named Editorial Director of BloodHorse

Frank Angst has been named editorial director of BloodHorse. He takes the place of Claire Crosby, who will assume a role with the Breeders' Cup as vice president of communications effective Mar. 1. Angst has been a turf writer for more than 20 years, 10 of which have been with BloodHorse. Before becoming editorial director, he was the features editor for the magazine.

The BloodHorse has announced the retirement of Evan Hammonds, editorial director, effective Monday, May 17, 2021. He will continue with BloodHorse part-time.
