A colt by two-time G1 Arima Kinen hero Symboli Kris S (Kris S.), whose second dam is a full-sister to 2003 G1 Dubai World Cup hero Moon Ballad (Ire) (Singspiel {Ire}), fetched a final bid of ¥19.44 million (US$187,997) to top this week's Autumn Yearling Sale on the island of Hokkaido in Japan.

Bred and offered by Shoichi Okamoto, the May-foaled bay, catalogued as hip 457, is a son of Charisma (Jpn) (Admire Moon {Jpn}) and also counts the outstanding European middle-distance runner Telescope (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G1SW Central Park (Ire) (In the Wings {GB}) in his female family. Winning bidder was Japanese businessman Isao Ogawa.

A daughter of Gold Allure (Jpn) (Sunday Silence), a four-time Group 1 winner over Japanese dirt courses, was hammered down to Kenji Ryotokuji for ¥16.74 million (US$161,876) to finish as the sale's top-priced filly. The daughter of Kanetsu Princess (Jpn) (Sakura Bakushin O {Jpn}), catalogued as hip 170, is from the same family as G1SP Fair Dance (Jpn) and GSP Kanetsu Tenby (Jpn) (Tenby {GB}).

From a catalogue similar in size to that of last year, a total of 474 youngsters changed hands over the course of three days of selling for an average of just over ¥3.48 million, an uptick of 1.9% over last year. The clearance rate was 71.8% versus just 65.9% in 2015.
