Street Cry Filly Captures the Galtres

Abingdon | Racing Post

Abingdon showed that she possessed an engine inside her imposing frame when breaking her maiden at the expense of the G2 Ribblesdale S. runner-up Ajman Princess (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Listed Height of Fashion S. winner Skiffle (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) over 10 furlongs at Ascot May 6 before following up in the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial S. over that trip at Newbury June 9. Given too much to do when second in the Listed Chalice S. over this distance at Newmarket last time July 30, the homebred came forward again here to suggest she can hold her own at a higher level. Held up in mid-division early by Andrea Atzeni, the bay was delivered to lead with a quarter mile remaining and galloped relentlessly to the line to win with authority. “She's going the right way. She's a typical Ballymacoll horse,” trainer Sir Michael Stoute said. “She's a big girl and is late-maturing. I think she could get a little bit further. The [Sept. 8 G2] Park Hill [S.] at Doncaster is a possibility, but we'll just wait and see.”

The first foal out of an unraced half-sister to Islington (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), who went one better than her illustrious dam Hellenic (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) by winning this card's feature G1 Yorkshire Oaks on two occasions. Also successful in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf which sealed Champion grass mare status, as well as the G1 Nassau S., she is in turn a full-sister to the G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis winner and MG1SP Greek Dance (Ire) and a half to the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud-winning sire Mountain High (Ire). Justlookdontouch, whose family also includes the G1 Melbourne Cup-winning Australian champion Fiorente (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}), has a 2-year-old filly by Hard Spun named Superioritycomplex (Ire) and a yearling filly by Leroidesanimaux (Brz).
