Start of Haskell Card Delayed; Monmouth to Reevaluate After Second Race

The start of Monmouth Park's GI TVG.com Haskell Invitational S. card was delayed approximately 30 minutes as officials and participants discussed whether or not to run on an extremely warm and humid day that had caused the majority of other tracks in the area to cancel. According to the Asbury Park Press, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy contacted the track's operator Dennis Drazin to express his concerns about the conditions. After two late scratches, the first race took place, and the track said it would reevaluate the running of any more races after the second contest–as of now, there appears to be a delay before that race. This story will be updated as necessary.
