The Australian multiple Group 1 winner Bella Nipotina (Aus) (Pride Of Dubai {Aus}) has been retired from racing and will be offered for sale at public auction in May.
Trainer Ciaron Maher announced the seven-year-old's retirement on social media on Tuesday. He said, “Bella was the most consistent and toughest racehorse I have ever had the pleasure to train. She has given me some of my biggest thrills in racing and has had a wonderful career.
“I feel honoured to have been part of her journey, and the last 12 months have shown the true makings of a genuine Australian sprinter.”
In 57 starts, Bella Nipotina won 11 races, including Group 1 victories in three different states, and was placed a further 26 times. Her most recent victory at the top level came in the TAB Everest at Randwick in October. She has earned more than A$22.7 million (including bonuses) in prize-money during her five seasons of racing
Originally trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Bella Nipotina, who was bred by Saconi Thoroughbreds, was an A$80,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale graduate when purchased by Lindsay Park and Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
