+STAGEPLAY (f, 2, Curlin">Curlin–Stage Stop {SW, $252,320}, by Valid Expectations), backed down into 8-5 favoritism from her morning line of 6-1, never looked like losing in graduating by three comprehensive lengths Saturday afternoon at Keeneland. A half-sister to Classic-placed Mylute (Midnight Lute), GISP, $803,022; as well as GSW She Digs Me (Henny Hughes), $195,683; the crowd's pick was away without incident and settled in about fifth position as Carina Mia (Malibu Moon), a $410,000 Keeneland September purchase, crossed and cleared her rivals from an outside gate. Stageplay looked to idle and lost a length or two at the entry to the turn, but Ricardo Santana Jr. elected to send her four-wide and around horses on the turn. Despite that wide passage, the rare grey filly for her sire descended on Carina Mia with a furlong to race and pulled readily clear, then galloped out well in front. Stage Stop has a yearling colt by Unbridled's Song and was bred to Candy Ride (Arg) in the current breeding season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $33,600.
