PREAMBLE (c, 2, Speightstown–Beautician {SW & MGISP, $636,175}, by Dehere) took his record to two-for-two with a narrow score at Keeneland Friday afternoon. The $225,000 KEESEP buy donned cap and gown by 1 1/2 lengths in his Churchill Downs unveiling at this distance Sept. 15 and was heavily favored at 2-5 to remain perfect here. Tracking from second through a first quarter in :22.46, the chestnut ranged up alongside the pacesetting Bingwa (Goldencents) turning for home and the pair were well clear of the rest of the field. The two foes battled stride-for-stride down the length of the stretch with Preamble edging clear late for a half-length success. It was a whopping 14 1/4 lengths back to the third-place finisher Spectacular Gem (Can the Man). The winner's dam Beautician was purchased by breeder Peter Callahan for just $110,000 as a KEESEP yearling and went to win a stake and finish second in both the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and GI Spinaway S., earning more than six times her purchase price by the close of her racing career. She is a half-sister to MGSW Red Ruby (Tiznow), GSW Mo Tom (Uncle Mo) and SW Bella Castani (Big Brown). Beautician produced an American Pharoah colt in 2017, who was purchased by Alex Solis and Jason Litt for $250,000 at KEESEP, and a Nyquist filly in 2018. She was bred back to Bodemeister earlier this season. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $73,800. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
