The impeccably bred Soaring High (Curlin) marked her return to the winner's circle with a convincing score in Saratoga on Thursday.
Seventh in her career bow sprinting at Churchill last September, she launched her 2026 campaign with a narrow victory in an 8 1/2-furlong test in Louisville on May 1. Let go at 10-1 going a mile at that venue last time, the bay filly was a well-beaten second. Installed the 3-5 choice in this return, Soaring High settled in a ground-saving fourth in :24.17. In contention while third through a half in :47,84, the Whisper Hill hombred needed racing room and soon found it leaving the far turn. Swung out wide turning for home, the favorite caught Hidden Rose (Connect) midstretch and drew off to score by 3 1/4 lengths.
Soaring High is a daughter of champion 2 and 3-year-old Songbird, who was purchased by Whisper Hill for $9.5 million at Fasig-Tipton November in 2017. A 10-time Grade I winner and earner of over $4.6 million, Songbird produced a colt by Gun Runner in 2024 followed by a filly by the sire last season. This term, she foaled a colt by Justify.
