Soldier Hollow's Dschingis Secret Wins In Berlin

By

With Godolphin fielding a classy duo in Hawkbill and Racing History here, national pride was at stake and Dschingis Secret proved equal to the momentous task as he upstaged the visitors to keep this prize at home. Third in the 11-furlong G2 Oppenheim-Union-Rennen at Cologne in June and in the G1 Deutsches Derby over this trip at Hamburg in July, the bay was ninth in the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden in September before moving up to take the 14-furlong G3 St Leger Italiano by seven lengths at the San Siro in October. Returning to beat Sirius (Ger) (Dashing Blade {GB}) by six lengths in the G2 Gerling-Preis at Cologne May 7, he was fifth in the May 28 G2 Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft before beating the subsequent G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis scorer Iquitos (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}) by 3 3/4 lengths in Hamburg's G2 Grosser Hansa-Preis on heavy ground July 1.

Travelling strongly for Adrie de Vries in a share of second early as he found perfect cover behind the favourite Hawkbill, he was sent up to tackle that rival inside the final quarter mile and had his measure a furlong out as Racing History wilted on his comeback. Dschingis Secret is out of a full-sister to the G3 Baden-Wurtemberg Trophy and G3 Premio Paolo Mezzanotte winner Deva (Ger), who in turn produced the G3 Preis der Deutschen Einheit scorer Devastar (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) and the dam of the G3 Preis der Winterkonigin-winning highweight Dhaba (Ger) (Areion {Ger}). The second dam Diana's Quest is one of only two foals bred from the smart G3 Neusser Stutenpreis winner Diana Dance who was also placed in both the German fillies's Classics and is one of four stakes winners out of Deceit (Prince John). Her eleven victories included the Mother Goose S., Acorn S., Matchmaker S., Astarita S. and Fashion S. Divya's 3-year-old full-sister to the winner named Diana Storm (Ger) was runner-up in the G3 Preis der Mitglieder des Hamburger Renn-Clubs and third in the Listed Preis Dusseldorf before finishing sixth in last Sunday's G1 Preis der Diana. Still to come from her are 2-year-old and yearling full-brothers to Dschingis Secret, with the former named Destino (Ger).
