SOCIAL INCLUSION REVVED UP FOR WOOD

SOCIAL INCLUSION REVVED UP FOR WOOD
Social Inclusion (Pioneerof the Nile), who upset “TDN Rising Star” Honor Code (A.P. Indy) in a Gulfstream allowance Mar. 12, hopes to gain enough points for a start in the GI Kentucky Derby after Saturday's
GI Wood Memorial S. at Aqueduct. “The horse is doing very good,” said owner Ronald Sanchez of Rontos Racing. “He came [to New York from Florida Monday] at 3 am. He went out today for an easy gallop. He's doing very well. We have a lot of expectations for him and have confidence. We came here to get the points and we're very confident we'll get them.”
Sanchez purchased the colt for $60,000 at the Keeneland September sale. “It was love at first sight,” Sanchez recalled. “When I bought him, I told [trainer] Manny [Azpurua]. 'I think we have a Derby Horse.”
Since his second win in as many races, Sanchez has been made a number of lucrative offers for the colt, all of which he has turned down.
“I had four offers,” the owner explained. “The biggest one came from outside of the United States. It was for $8 million for 75% of the horse. We had a couple for less money here in the States.”
When asked why he chose not to sell Social Inclusion Sanchez explained, “Not everything is money when you have a dream and you work hard for that dream. Money doesn't mean everything in life. We have a dream and we're going to try to make the dream come true.”
Sanchez also noted that if the right offer came along after the Wood, he would be interested in selling a piece of Social Inclusion.
“We have some conditions,” Sanchez said. “I want to keep a piece of the horse, breeding rights and to keep the horse with Manny.”
“We came here to get the points,” Sanchez concluded. “We're not here to play games. We know how to handle this horse and I'm pretty confident we're going to get [the points]–hopefully.”
