A Triple Crown nominee, MEMORY (Uncle Mo) debuted a well-beaten seventh behind stablemate and newly minted 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard', Crude Velocity (Beau Liam) at 'The Great Race Place' Mar. 7.
As a 9-2 shot here, the hooded dark bay fired out of the gate and was in the mix heading into the first turn. Taken in hand entering the backstretch as his stablemate Authentic Patriot (Authentic) proceeded to carve out the fractions, the Keeneland grad waited for the right time to strike.
The colt was asked for speed past the quarter pole and responded with a strong move, which earned him the lead inside the final furlong. Outlasting Silent Way (McKinzie), the 3-year-old donned cap and gown by 3/4 length.
The winner is a half-brother to First World War (War Front), MGSW, $550,363. Sundaysatthebeach produced a colt by Elite Power last year and foaled a filly by Nyquist Feb. 16.
Memory's second dam is GI Personal Ensign Stakes victress Ask the Moon (Malibu Moon) and her dam's half-sister is MSW Belgrano (War Front).
