Gotta Go rallied wide and gamely prevailed in a ding-dong stretch battle to capture the Street Sense S. at Churchill Downs, becoming the third stakes winner for his freshman sire (by Harlan’s Holiday). Showing late interest to finish fifth debuting July 30 at Ellis, the $250,000 Keeneland September buy dominated a local maiden group at 12-1 Sept. 17 and was let go as the sixth choice in this stakes bow. Settling in eighth off of sharp splits of :22.55 and :45.66, the gray was patiently handled on the turn, came alive in the four path at the five-sixteenths pole, hit the front at the furlong marker and narrowly beat back Lone Sailor to his inside for the win. The victor has a yearling half-brother by Speightstown and a weanling half-sister by Pioneerof the Nile. His dam was bred to Nyquist this season.
