Just shy of two years ago, Chad Brown sent out a seven-figure yearling purchase for a partnership including Coolmore and partners to win his debut smartly over the Aqueduct one-turn mile. That colt is none other than 'TDN Rising Star' presented by Hagyard Sierra Leone (Gun Runner). Whether first-time starter HADRIAN'S WALL (Curlin) can turn back the clock remains to be determined, but the first chapter of that particular story is set to be told just after noon Sunday on Long Island.

The Feb. 1 foal is the first starter for his dam, the 2020 GII Adirondack Stakes heroine Thoughtfully (Tapit) and fetched $1.3 million from Coolmore's M.V. Magnier and White Birch Farm's Peter Brant at last year's Keeneland September Sale. Sierra Leone partner Brook T. Smith is also part of the ownership group. The mare is a full- or half-sister to seven other winners out of MSW Giant Payday (Giant's Causeway), whose other produce include SW Signator (Tapit) and GSW Annual Report (Harlan's Holiday). The colt's third dam is Phipps Stable Grade I winner Furlough (Easy Goer).

The current yearling out of Thoughtfully, a colt by Gun Runner, was purchased for a sales-topping $3.3 million by Magnier, White Birch and Winchell Thoroughbreds at KEESEP a handful of weeks ago. TJCIS PPs
