Harmonize, one of the leading 2-year-old turf fillies last year, made an impressive return to the races to kick off her sophomore season in style. The filly graduated with a four-length victory in the P G Johnson S. over the Saratoga lawn last September and circled the field to just get on top in the Oct. 7 GIII Jessamine S. at Keeneland. She was last seen finishing seventh, beaten just 3 3/4 lengths in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Oct. 30. Harmonize hopped at the break and was shuffled back to race near the back of the pack. She sliced her way through a host of rivals in upper stretch and powered to the lead in the final strides. Breeder Jack Swain III enjoyed a nice daily double, having also bred GII Fair Grounds Oaks heroine Land Over Sea (Bellamy Road). Rontos Lily (Big Drama), who crossed the wire second, was moved down to seventh after an erratic stretch run. Mesa Fresca, a half to the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Al Khali (Medaglia d'Oro) and graded stakes placed Japan (Medaglia d'Oro), produced a colt by Animal Kingdom in 2015 and was bred back to Scat Daddy. The winner is also from the family of Grade I winners Somali Lemonade and Verrazano. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
