The New York Racing Association (NYRA) will honor health care professionals and first responders Friday, July 16, at Saratoga. All Capital Region front-line workers who show proper identification will receive free grandstand admission to thank them for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Billed as Health Care Heroes and First Responders Day, presented by CDPHP, the day will also feature a performance from New York State Troopers Pipes and Drums. In addition, races will be run in their honor with local first responders and health care professionals welcomed into the winner's circle for races three and five.

Nominations may also be submitted for NYRA's Hometown Hero program, presented by CDPHP. Each Friday of the meet beginning July 23, NYRA and CDPHP will recognize a front-line or essential worker who went above and beyond during the pandemic by giving them the opportunity to present the trophy following a race. Nominations can be submitted at [email protected] through Aug. 15 and should include contact information for both the nominee and the nominator, as well as a brief description (250 words or less) of why the nominee should be recognized as a NYRA Hometown Hero.
