Sands Of Mali Added To Tattersalls

The G1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint winner Sands Of Mali (Fr) (Panis) is a late addition to the Tattersalls December Mare Sale catalogue for next week. The 4-year-old colt, who raced initially for The Cool Silk Partnership but has this year been campaigned by a partnership which includes Phoenix Thoroughbreds, will be sold on Monday as a wildcard entry lot 1621A to dissolve the partnership.

His late entry in the sale follows allegations made in an American court as to the alleged involvement of Phoenix Thoroughbreds' founder Amer Abdulaziz Salman in the OneCoin cryptocurrency scam.

Originally bought as a yearling by Con Marnane for €20,000, Sands Of Mali was acquired by The Cool Silk Partnership through agent Matt Coleman for £75,000 at the Tattersalls Ascot Breeze-up Sale. His five victories in 16 starts include four group wins and he has also been runner-up in the G1 Commonwealth Cup.

Phoenix Thoroughbreds first became involved in the ownership of Sands Of Mali at the beginning of 2019. He will be offered as a horse out of training.
