Awesome Baby, a $220,000 KEESEP yearling, belied a reasonably stout pedigree to run the fastest 5 1/2 furlongs of the Del Mar meet so far and earn “TDN Rising Star” status. Hammered down to 4-5 favoritism in this unveiling, the dark bay was sent right to the front by Martin Garcia and set honest fractions. She began to get away from the rest leaving the turn and flew home 4 3/4 lengths clear. Perched (Into Mischief) rallied from second last to fill the place spot. Awesome Baby's dam Miss Attractive was purchased by Nicholas and Debbie Sibilio for $50,000 at the 2010 Keeneland November Sale with Awesome Baby in utero. Miss Attractive, a half to the stakes winners Miss Tizzy (Cee's Tizzy) and Amiable Grace (Alphabet Soup), had colts by Touch Gold and Sidney's Candy in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $45,000.
