COPPER TOWN (c, 4, Speightstown–Dynazaper {SW, $139,835}, by Ghostzapper) returned from a year-long layoff to capture a second-level allowance test with authority Saturday afternoon. Crowned a 'TDN Rising Star' after breaking his maiden impressively at second asking over a mile at Belmont last September, the bay posted a massive 106 Beyer Speed Figure when repeating in an Elmont allowance test traveling 1 1/16 miles a month later. Sidelined since that effort last October, he resurfaced in this spot as the clear 3-5 favorite and, despite breaking a touch slowly, secured a spot tracking the pace four wide behind a quarter-mile in :22.95. Quickening readily while hung wide on the turn, he kicked clear in the lane and scored by five lengths. Veteran Control Stake (Discreetly Mine) rallied up the rail to complete the exacta. The winner's stakes-winning dam is also responsible for an unraced juvenile colt named Central Park (Pioneerof the Nile) who was purchased for $825,000 by Stonestreet Stables at last year's Keeneland September Sale. She produced a filly by Bernardini in 2017 and a colt by Bodemeister this year before being bred back to Speightstown. Copper Town's second dam is GSW Broad Dynamite (Broad Brush). Lifetime Record: 4-3-1-0, $141,780. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
