Renegade Leads Arkansas Derby Field

Sam F. Davis Stakes winner Renegade (Into Mischief) was installed as the 3-2 morning-line favorite for the $1.5 million GI Arkansas Derby March 28 at Oaklawn Park.

Post positions for the 1 1/8-mile race were drawn Saturday afternoon, with Renegade leading nine horses entered in the track's fourth and final Kentucky Derby qualifying race.

5-2 shot Silent Tactic (Tacitus) will be the only horse to compete in all four qualifying races at Oaklawn after finishing second in the Smarty Jones Stakes Jan. 3, winning the $1-million GIII Southwest Stakes Feb. 6 and finishing second in the $1-million GII Rebel Stakes March 1.

Grade II winner Litmus Test (Nyquist) for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert and 'TDN Rising Star' Blackout Time (Not This Time) for Kenny McPeek finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Rebel.

The projected Arkansas Derby field from the rail out: Redland Rebels (Uncle Chuck) (15-1) who is also cross-entered in the GI Florida Derby, Silent Tactic (5-2), Blackout Time (6-1), Bricklin (Nyquist) (20-1), Taptastic (Tapit) (20-1), Renegade (3-2), Napoleon Solo (Liam's Map) (6-1), Exosome (Candy Ride {Arg}) (20-1) and Litmus Test (5-1).
