Real Steel Out Of Dubai Turf

Real Steel | DRC

Real Steel (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) will not line up for his title defense of Saturday's G1 Dubai Turf at Meydan after bleeding from his nostrils on Tuesday. Trainer Yoshito Yahagi said, “There was only blood found in his nasal passages, not his lungs, so it doesn't seem that serious, but we have to think about what is best for the horse. I am very disappointed, but we will make fall plans for him and hopefully be back next year for the 2018 Dubai Turf.”

Real Steel, Classic-placed in his native country, was recording a first top-level win when besting Euro Charline (Ire) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) in last year's Dubai Turf, and he finished second to champion Maurice (Jpn) (Screen Hero {Jpn}) in last fall's G1 Tenno Sho Autumn. The 5-year-old was eighth on his seasonal debut in the G2 Nakayama Kinen S. on Feb. 26.
