Australia's Chatsworth Stud went to $400,000 to purchase R Harper Rose (Khozan), the 2024 GIII Forward Gal Stakes winner and topper of Fasig-Tipton's March Digital Sale, which closed late Tuesday afternoon. A broodmare prospect, R Harper Rose was consigned by Gainesway as hip 7.
A total of 85 horses sold for $3,095,000, an average of $36,411 and a median of $15,000. After outs, the sale netted a clearance rate of 85% while offering horses of racing age, racing/broodmare prospects, broodmares, 2-year-olds in training, and short yearlings.
“We are very pleased with the results of our March Digital sale,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. “We had an 85% clearance rate and sold top-end horses to buyers all over the world. Gross was up nearly 50% from last year and all segments of the market were very well represented. Very solid sale.”
Two of the more high-profile offerings did not sell during the sale, although offers are still being accepted. They include the broodmare Curls for Girls (Curlin) (hip 14), whose son Flood Zone (Frosted) upset the GIII Gotham Stakes, and a no-guarantee season to sire sensation Nyquist (hip 6), who stands at Darley.
In addition to R Harper Rose, some of the other March Digital Sale top sellers include Laulne (Fr) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) (hip 18), a racing/broodmare prospect consigned by EliTE and sold for $320,000 to Franklin Finance, Haras d'Etreham, and Madaket Stables; Luvwhatyoudo (Uncle Mo) (hip 2), consigned as a broodmare prospect by VanMeter Sales and sold for $250,000 to Retem Stable; and yearlings by Good Magic (hip 34) and Justify (hip 41), both consigned by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa and sold for $170,000. Goodwill Bloodstock bought the Good Magic colt and DJ Stables bought the Justify filly.
