Quality At A Premium For Saturday's Arqana Arc Sale

Schwarzer Peter | Arqana

After a frenetic Saturday of racing on opening day of Arc weekend at ParisLongchamp, the curtain rises on Arqana's Arc Sale at Saint-Cloud Racecourse at 6:30 p.m., Paris time. Thirty-five lots will go through the ring.

One of the highlights is Schwarzer Peter (Ger) (Neatico {Ger}) (lot 17), second in the 2022 G1 German Derby, who has been placed in the G3 Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe in August since his Classic near miss. Consigned by trainer Markus Klug, the 112-rated bay is out of the listed-placed Sovalla (GB) (Pomellato {Ger}), and is from the extended family of G3 Prix Edmond Blanc victor Silas Marner (Fr) (Muhtathir).

The final entry on the day is lot 47, the regally-bred In Crowd (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), who is a half-brother to Group 1 winners With You (GB) (Dansili {GB}), Call The Wind (GB) (Frankel {GB}), and We Are (Ire) (Dansili {GB}). A listed winner this term in the Grand Prix Anjou Bretagne at Nantes in June, the chestnut is consigned by Freddy Head.

2021 G3 Grix Quincey hero Dilawar (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) (lot 38) is part of the Aga Khan Studs' draft and was second in the G3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil at Chantilly in June. Equal to Schwarzer Peter on ratings, his dam is the top race mare Dolniya (Fr) (Azamour {Ire}), successful in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic.

Peter Schiergen has entered dual Group 3 winner Rocchigiani (GB) (Time Test {GB}) (lot 43), who claimed the July 29 G3 Thoroughbred S., while E&G Leenders consigns G3 Prix La Force winner Mister Saint Paul (Fr) (Dariyan {Fr}) as lot 28. Fabrice Chapet's Master Gatsby (Fr) (The Grey Gatsby {Ire}) (lot 16) has been a progressive sort and triumphed in the Sept. 1 G3 Prix du Lutece in his latest trip the post.

By one of the first-crop sires-of-the-moment in Havana Grey (GB), Real Cecile (GB) (lot 32) will go through the ring under the A&G Botti banner. Never off the board in four starts, the 88-rated daughter of the stakes-placed Anna Sophia (Oasis Dream {GB}) secured her maiden win at Dieppe on Aug. 1.
