Cool Catomine | WEG/Burns

Last month’s Prince of Wales S. winner Cool Catomine (Spring At Last) tries the turf as he looks to annex two of three legs of Canada’s Triple Crown in Sunday’s Breeders’ S. at Woodbine. A fourth-out graduate by a head over subsequent maiden breaker Glencairn (Candy Ride {Arg}) over the synthetic July 2, the John Ross pupil wheeled back on 23 days’ rest and belied 14-1 odds to take the Prince of Wales S. on the Fort Erie dirt by a decisive 2 1/2-length margin. The great grandson of German champion Martessa (Ger) (Solarstern {Fr}) tested out the local lawn with a six-furlong breeze in 1:14 4/5 Aug. 9. For more on Cool Catomine’s breeders, click here. Final Copy (Malibu Moon) defeated Conquest Lemonraid (Lemon Drop Kid) and King and His Court (Court Vision) in the grassy nine-panel Toronto Cup here July 23. Seeking Albert (Einstein {Brz}) is proven over course and distance–he pulled off an 18-1 upset in a July 14 allowance last out in his second start since being acquired privately from Texas-based connections. Channel Maker (English Channel) gets the morning-line nod off a fourth-place run in the Queen’s Plate July 2. He’s seeking his first victory since breaking his maiden in a turf sprint stakes here at two.
