Pride Of Dubai Wins Trial

Last year's G1 Blue Diamond S. and G1 Sires' Produce S. winner Pride Of Dubai (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) indicated he is well on his way to a return to the races when winning a hotly contested trial at Randwick Tuesday. The trial was the bay's first 'public' appearance since he won the Sires' Produce in April, and he had last year's G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement (Aus) (Hinchinbrook {Aus})–who also put in an eye-catching performance–back in third, with Group 1 winners Vanbrugh (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}) and Boban (Aus) (Bernardini) further behind.

He definitely needed it, I dare say he needs to have another one, he was never going to be pushed out at all, it was just a fitness thing,” Paul Snowden, who trains Pride Of Dubai in partnership with his father Peter for breeder Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and Coolmore, told Racing.com. “He jumped well and traveled quite strongly throughout the trial so it's all good so far. He'll have another trial in about 10 days' time and we'll assess how his fitness levels are before we go to the races again.”

Snowden said no race targets have been nominated at this stage.

He's had a long layoff and a horse of his ability, he's going to race at high level,” he told Racing.com. “We've got to have him pretty well up to the mark and ready to go.”
